Good Monsters

Four things:

* This weekend sees the opening of Dreamworks' 3-D animated epic Monsters Vs. Aliens. (On his blog, WEBmikey gives the film a solid 3 out of 5.)

* reports that the 1976 Saturday morning series Monster Squad is coming to DVD. The series starred a young Fred "Gopher" Grandy leading replicas of Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster, and the Wolf Man to fight crime.

* Genndy Tartakovsky ("Samurai Jack") is developing a new giant robot series for the Cartoon Network: "Sym-Bionic Titan" is described as an "exciting hybrid of high school drama and giant robot battles." The series follows three aliens who crash-land on Earth while attempting to escape their war-torn world. (UPDATE: Preview images online at Giant Monsters Attack!)

* Race To Witch Mountain director Andy Fickman has been tapped to direct the big screen adaptation of Monster Attack Network. Inspired by the comic, the film will be an "effects-heavy action comedy about a secret government organisation that protects America’s coasts from giant, marauding monsters. You know, like that Godzilla fella."
