Gamera Vs. Barugon coming July 6

Gamera Vs. BarugonAmazon has a listing for the second movie in Shout Factory's special edition DVDs of the original Gamera series: 1966's Gamera vs. Barugon is scheduled to hit shelves July 6. No details on supplements yet, but the film will be sourced from the latest HD master and presented in its original Japanese with English subtitles.

Gamera vs. Barugon (also known as War of the Monsters) follows a group of treasure-hunters who inadvertently unleash the monster Barugon -- complete with a freezing tongue and rainbow-shooting spines on its back -- upon the world. Arriving to save the day is titanic terrapin Gamera (somehow free from his rocket prison from the previous film).

Giant Hands!

So apparently some in the comicsphere continue to mistakenly refer to Robot-13 as "plagiarized" from Hellboy. Speaking as a fan of both properties, I'd like to suggest these folks need to buy a good dictionary and look up the word "plagiarism." (And then they need to cancel a lot of books that aren't Robot-13.) In an industry so rampantly chock-full of examples of artistic swiping and "homages," no intelligent comics professional would mistakenly include Robot -13 in that group.
